PART 3: OHIO RIVER, PATH TO THE WEST
Third segment of my North American pioneer history — the Ungovernable Frontier (The Pioneer Trail, Cowboys, Indians and Pilgrims). I review some of the native, settler and military events near or along the upper Ohio River watershed. Featured are the prehistory mounds of Moundsville, West Virginia; Braddock’s defeat with a young George Washington among the British troops fighting the French and their Indian allies; and Harmony Village, a remnant community of religious idealists that were an early influencer of Pennsylvania’s efforts to civilize all its inhabitants — Indians and frontiersmen alike.
