Chief Black Hawk was one of the few remaining Native American contestants with the new colonists flowing east of the Mississippi River after the War of 1812. The lands of the Ohio Country to the Upper Great Lakes and Upper Mississippi Valley were forfeited by the dispersed Indian tribal members still inhabiting the old "Northwest Territory" including Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. A young Abraham Lincoln participated in the upheaval. (10 min.)
