Writer's picture: Edgar David BoshartEdgar David Boshart

Sergeant Charles Floyd dies as Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark guide their 1804 expeditioners against the flow of the Missouri River into new Indian territory near the border of Nebraska and South Dakota.  Their first council with indigenous tribal leaders behind them, the explorers approach a notable cursed hill on the Great Plains, known today as Spirit Mound.  A new council on a bluff awaits them, this time their first meeting with representatives of the Sioux.
