Lewis and Clark Expedition: the Sioux, part 3, Bad Lands

Writer's picture: Edgar David BoshartEdgar David Boshart

The Corp of Discovery expedition to the Pacific in 1804-06 sought to befriend the indigenous peoples along the Missouri River and beyond. Their efforts proved complicated, especially when confronting the expanding influence of the Lords of the Northern Plains, the Sioux.  The badlands of South Dakota eventually became part of the Great Sioux Reserve, but it was the Black Hills that were a sanctuary for tribes and their buffalo quarry.  (Best if viewed on larger screen devices, HD)

Stay with the Journey. Fascinating.
