Rockies' Splendor

"Do you wish people to believe good of you? Don't speak." Blaise Pascal, Penses, Section II

This is the first of two blogs this week because there is so much to see on the journey between Jasper in northern Alberta and Banff at the south end of the Icefields Parkway. Too many places for words. So this first blog is mostly a photo gallery of some locations along Route 93 in Canada with some quotes of past literary and scientific pathfinders. The subsequent blog leads from the incredibly beautiful Peyto Lake to last season's first snowfall at the mountain summit reached on the famed Banff gondola, near Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.

Note: There is a lot to see and do when travelling on the Icefields Parkway, or there is nothing to see and do. It depends a lot on the weather. Visiting too late or too early in the Fall and Spring can be uncomfortable although the highway is well maintained. All services on the parkway such as restaurants, accommodation and the only fuel station are closed from November to April.

"Art is a technique of communication. The Image is the most complete technique of all communication." Clais Oldenburg, American sculptor (populist subjects)
